The Rega RP3 turntable uses an ultra low noise and low vibration motor which is hand tuned to reduce vibration, and is virtually indistinguishable the motor used in the top of the range P7 and P9 turntables sold at 2-3 times the price. The result is less rumble, a lower noise floor and more consistent accuracy of speed.
Major improvements made for the latest Rega RP3 turntables include a brand new hand assembled RB303 tonearm, a precision main bearing and a new plinth featuring Rega's proprietary Double Brace Technology. Rega is a pioneer in the use of ultra lightweight plinths, and uses a phenolic resin thermoplastic construction with a double brace to further improve rigidity, essentially creating a stressed beam formation. This adds further strengthening the area between the tonearm mounting and the main bearing, for improved energy absorption and reduced resonance. This translates into better sound quality with less distortion, and the reduced mass of the plinth means less energy loss.
The Rega RP3 uses a brand new RB303 Tonearm, incorporating cutting edge 3D CAD & CAM technology. The new unit offers greater rigidity, a more lightweight design, and better mass distribution which al serve to reduce resonance. With a virtually friction free movement and high precision bearings, and an impressive Elys 2 moving magnet cartridge it all adds up to an incredible package, which raises the benchmark at this price point further still.
